utah tour

My hometown, Cedar City. This is what I got to see growing up–that red hill, that beautiful little town with SUU buildings and church steeples poking up above the trees.

I have a lot of signings coming up in the next month or so, and many of them are in Utah!

Do you live in Cedar City (shout out to Cedar City!)? Or Orem? Or Orem again? Or Logan? Then I am signing in your town in either March or April. Click here on the Events page for more details. I would LOVE to see you there! The first one is this Saturday, the 19th, in Orem. The Logan event has lots of awesome authors including (I believe!) Shannon Hale, James Dashner, Jessica Day George, Brandon Mull, and Nathan Hale (an amazing illustrator).

Also, I am coming to Mississippi, Texas, and LA in March and April and more events in other cities are on the horizon! I’ll be sure to keep the Events page updated with any more info.

P.S. Okay, one more Cedar City picture. This is the soda fountain inside Bulloch Drug, which is owned by the Vickers family. (My sister married Robbie Vickers, pharmacist extraordinaire.) Don’t you need to come to Cedar City? Now?

I SO love Cedar – Fell in love with it the first time I attended the Shakespeare Festival. I want to retire there, write and teach at SUU.

      Sigh.

Sorry, Kira – that was supposed to go to Ms. Ally!

By the way, Ally, I often say Ann Dee CONDIE or Ally ELLIS when talking about 2 of my favorite Utah authors. AND Rick Walton caught me in the act! Funny AND a little embarrassing!

Renae, that is so funny. I am always honored to be associated with Ann Dee Ellis in any way, so that was fun to hear!

Since you can’t come to California, I guess I’ll come to you. I’ll be at the WIFYR conference and hope to see you there.

Nope. San Francisco Bay Area. I’ll settle for Wifyr.

Ally, I just read your book Matched. What a wonderful wonderful story! I could not put it down and finished it in a day. My 15 yr old daughter is now reading it, and I am glad it is one I could recommend to her (as in the romance is clean). I was wondering if you could address this question in a blog post sometime: How did you make the leap from your style of writing in Freshman for President to Matched? (Freshman was engaging, but so different and frankly not as compelling as Matched) How did you prepare to build the unique world in Matched? Thanks!

Jewel, I’m so glad you liked the book! As far as how I “made the leap,” I think the book I wrote in between Freshman and Matched probably shows the transition. That book (Being Sixteen) felt very different from Freshman to write. Hope that answers the question!
