(c) Brook Andreoli

I wrote a post when MATCHED came out and another when CROSSED was released, talking about how I felt, and how none of this could have happened without the help of other people. My agent and editor, my publicist, the marketing team, the cover designer, librarians, bloggers, my family…everyone had a part in this book and it belongs to them too.

And, as I said a couple of years ago, it belongs to you now. In so many interviews lately I’ve been asked if I felt sad. Each time, I said no, not yet. Because the series doesn’t feel over until you, the readers, have it and have the story. I love this picture (taken, as always, by the incomparable Brook Andreoli) because you’re not entirely certain where the book is on the path–is it the beginning? the end? Both?

This series is truly yours now. And in some ways I don’t ever think I will feel sad that it’s “over”–though I will certainly miss these characters!–because it’s been one of the greatest blessings of my life to have readers who care. Part of the acknowledgments of the book are “to you, the reader, for taking this journey with Cassia, Ky, and Xander, and with me.”

I will be forever grateful.

  • As someone who had the utmost pleasure of reading an ARC and has already cried over the ending of this trilogy, I would like to say you couldn’t of ended it more perfectly. I’ve loved following this series and seeing the characters evolve and grow. Thank you.

Thank you for bringing such beautifully written books into this world, Ally! I just finished Crossed and I absolutely loved it. The amazing thing about good books is, that they never leave you completely. The sad part is, that when they are over, it seems like a whole world disappears (luckily we can read them over and over again)

One of my favorite parts of crossed is page 346, line 15-24 “Everything has something of beauty about them…”. I read this part nearly 20 times and just couldnt get enough of the sounds of the words.

All the luck in the future,
    Nadja, from Denmark.

Reached reached our home today and as I read page 10, I started chuckling. . .

“Burton” the father says. “It’s a family name.”

Yes it is and thank you from all the family!

Hey you guys, for everyone who has already finished Reached(I am wiating for a copy now)read these books:
    -Divergent by Veronica Roth
Delirium By Lauren Oliver( this book is most like Matched to me)
    -Legend by Marie Lu
-the Giver by Lois Lowery(a classic)
These are dystopian books. if you’re looking for something a bit darker, I found these.
-The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
-Rot and Ruin br Jonathon Maberry
    -The Enemy by Charlie Higson
Note:these are ZOMBIE books, but they’re aren’t that scary. It’s just sad.

    Hope I helped!!!

Thank you so much for write this series Ally!! You are such an inspiration to other writers like me. And you know what you said about the trilogy not being over until we, the readers, get the books, well in a way, i guess, that is true, but the way I see it is that the trilogy may seem over, but it lives on through the reader becasue we will still make fan fictions and fan art about the trilogy and the story can still affect the way that we handle a problem or help us fight for the power to choose. I know you more than likely won’t see comment but I hope you know you are an amazing author and you are my inspiration and I want to thank you ssooo much for writing this trilogy and everthing you do for us.

Thank you so much for your talk in Omaha yesterday. My group of students talked the entire way back to school about the new ideas they took away for their own writing (3 of the 4 are currently working on something)…”I’ve been stuck for like a month but now I know what to do.” They also dove into Reached, opting to finish the day reading in the library. It’s days like that when I particularly love my job. 🙂

    Hi Ally,

I finished Reached last night and I wanted to say thank you for these books. Sometimes life is hard, but reading your books make me forget what’s happening around me, they take me to a different place.
Thank you for Cassia, for Ky, and especially thank you for Xander. He’s just too good to be true 🙂

wow i see that there is no room for anything but praise here.. what kind of author dose not allow ALL opinions of her work to be shared i know you wont post this as i can tell you only let the people that have nothing but praise post. Ridiculous. I’m in a 350 person book club with members all over the US and not one of us liked the ending. and not one of us will ever read another ally condie book or series. considering no criticism is allowed! RIDICULOUS. Maybe you should take some notes from all the great authors that enjoy and build from the criticism that there fans have for them instead of acting like not a single person was un happy with the way you choose to end the series. thanks for nothing

I do like to respect my readers by keeping the blog spoiler-free. Your comment had quite a few spoilers in it about the ending of the book/series. Feel free to email me, but I do like the fans to know that they can come here and have a safe place to read/talk about the book. 🙂 Best wishes!

I just wanted to let you know that your book is one of the very few where I feel as if I can escape into it. Like I can be a part of the book instead of just a reader. I want to thank you for that. For giving me a way to escape reality if only for a moment. Congratulations on finishing your superb series! You are a true inspiration to young writers and readers.
    Thank you again,

P.S. I can’t wait to read the books you will write in the future!

I am so disappointed!!! My copy of “Reached” jumps from page 120 to 185. Then, when it’s time for page 185, the entire section is repeated. I am returning it today but I am sad that I do not get to read it! What a bummer. There are also LOTS of typos….I read past them in the last 2, but expected this one to be different. Thanks for a great story…perhaps the quality could be better!

I loved the first two. I got this one along with Matced (I already had Crossed. It was the first one I was able to purchase) just yesturday. I have yet to read it, but, seeing as how the other two were, I’m sure that I’ll love it. I remember when my teacher strted reading this to us in english. I’m one that has to finish a series\trilogy, and I’ve loved it as said before.
