lists, links, and frequently asked questions

I have lots of awesome info and some faq to answer today so here we go:

MATCHED made the ALA 2011 Best Fiction for Young Adults List! It also made the ALA 2011 Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers List. These lists are chosen by librarians and it is such a thrill for me that they picked MATCHED. Thank you, thank you!

Also, I need to give a shout-out to another awesome MATCHED fansite: the LiveJournal Community for the Matched Trilogy can be found here.

We’re #5 on the NYT list this week! Wahoo!

And I have a couple of questions that keep popping up in my inbox that I thought I would answer here as well:

Have you seen the cover for CROSSED yet? When can you reveal it?

I haven’t seen the official cover yet (I’ve seen a mockup and LOVED it). When I do, I promise I will post it as soon as I get permission. Promise.

Who do you want to play the characters in MATCHED if it does get made into a movie?

I did joke about having Neil Diamond play Grandfather in a post a few weeks ago. And I’ve seen people who I think would look the part and have commented on that. But the truth is that if MATCHED does become a movie I would want whoever the directors, etc. pick. Because they know what they are doing and how to cast movies and I am clueless.

Can you send me a bookmark/book/bookplate?

I actually don’t have any swag. I’m sorry! It’s one of those things that I can’t seem to figure out how to do without taking away from writing time or kid time. But I would love to sign your book someday. Keep an eye on my Events page–I might be coming near you soon!

I think that’s all for now. This was kind of a newsy post and not very writey. I’ll try to do another one of those on Tuesday.

Hope you all have a wonderful long weekend!

It’s great to see MATCHED topping the lists — it was the perfect gift for several readers on my own Christmas list.

Read this quote today and immediately thought of MATCHED (I just switched out “she” for “he):

“Society is like a lawn, where every roughness is smoothed, every bramble eradicated, and where the eye is delighted by the smiling verdure of a velvet surface; [s]he, however, who would study nature in its wildness and variety, must plunge into the forest, must explore the glen, must stem the torrent, and dare the precipice.”–Washington Irving, writer (1783-1859)

Hi! I just read Matched and LOVED it; had to see your blog. I love your blog (I’ve been looking at it for about 20 min.) and I was so excited to see that you are creating a trilogy!!!!!!! So pumped for November now. I loved reading your writing…..I love to write too, and your book definitely gave me inspiration. I have a blog that I am constantly (sort of constantly) updating at enilorac99.wordpress.com. Love your blog! Eagerly awaiting Crossed.

    Hi Ally,
I was wondering if I would be able to do a Q&A (via email) with you for my blog?
I’ve just finished Matched (yesterday!) and I truly loved it! (By the way!)
    I hope that’s fine,
    Thank you,
