libraries, school

The Salt Lake City Public Library event last Wednesday was such a delight. Many thanks to all who came, and HUGE thanks to Jordan Triptow and her team of librarians, who put on a fantastic event. They had set up stations where you could do things like go on a scavenger hunt through the library, make MATCHED buttons, put together a tablet container with three tablets inside, and eat pie (just like Grandfather!). I am really honored that they invited me to come to the library and speak to their patrons. It was especially fun for me because I got to give out those ARCs of CROSSED and also talk about CROSSED for the first time…and also see some family I haven’t seen in a while!

left to right: husband, sister (Hope), brother (Nic), cousin-in-law (Kylie), cute Brooke who won CROSSED but who is not a member of my family, I swear!, me, cousin (Michelle), and cousin (Stephanie)

My New Mexico cousins were in town and my brother and sister came down from Logan too. What a nice family I have! It was so fun to get to talk with them. I wish they lived closer!

And then it was back to work (me) and back to school (kids) and I have been pretty much running around ever since. To be honest, this summer has been so wild that I think once we get into the school groove things will feel more relaxed than they have over the past few months. Then again, maybe not. I always think that and then things get progressively crazier. I think that’s just what life is like, and I know it’s like that for most of us.

Which is why I want to say, to all those who take the time to read the books, the blog, come to events, etc…THANK YOU. I know you are busy. I know you have many other things you could be doing, reading, seeing.

Happy New School Year to all!

P.S. I responded to all the comments on the last post. Thanks so much for your thoughts!

You are completely rocking that outfit. Seriously. Also, you look like you have decreased in age like ten years. So, um, not only are you a prolific author, but kindof really a hottie too. Remind your husband he is lucky. Have a great day.

Sounds like a fantastic evening! Wish I could’ve been there.

I know what you mean about being back in school. In some ways it’s horrible (getting them out of bed and making lunches and doing homework), but in other ways it’s great to be back to a schedule.

    Happy writing!

That sounds SO TOTALLY AWESOME! I wish I could have come, but school starts earlier in ABQ. I would have skipped it, I mean, who likes school? And going to an awesome book signing instead? Totally worth it! But alas, my parents wouldn’t allow it. 🙁 That’s cool anyway. 😀 Keep us posted on when other signings are! 😀

    Ally –

I just finished reading Matched while searching for books to use for the 2012-2013 school year for my students – what a wonderful piece of literature! I teach special ed and have many reluctant readers, but know that this will draw them in! I can’t wait until Crossed!
P.S. I love the fact that you are an English teacher. I knew I wouldn’t find any annoying literary mistakes 🙂 The last book I read had a number of sentences that drove me crazy! “The apple tasted green and cool.” What? You can’t taste green or cool! It can feel cool, the flesh of the apple can be cool, but it doesn’t taste cool! Call me a literary snob if you will…..

Beautiful! That’s what it’s all about: having the ones we love share our greatest moments. Stay blessed, my dear.

This was a fun event. Both you and the library did a great job. It was very fun and your presentation was great.

I keep meaning to post about it on my blog. You beat me to the punch. 🙂

I was in SLC a couple days before that, but sadly, on the day of the event I had flown all the way back across the country 🙁 If only my vacation plans had been a tad bit different… 😛
