crossed giveaway!

I am SO excited to give away this ARC.

I’ve already said that CROSSED is my favorite thing I’ve written. Part of that is because of the setting, which is based very heavily on my beloved Southern Utah, part of it is because I worked so hard on this book and feel that it truly became what I hoped it would be, and part of it is because of the characters. I don’t think it’s any surprise to anyone who has read my books when I say that I’m the most interested in the people in stories–what they’re doing, how they feel, why they feel it. That’s always my focus–I can’t help it–and I’ve enjoyed this part of Ky and Cassia and Xander’s journey very much.

Oh, I hope you like it. I wish I could give ARCs to every single person who enjoyed MATCHED. But this one will have to do for now.

And here are the rules…

1. To enter, leave a comment on this post by midnight MST Saturday, June 18th, 2011. The comment must include 1) your e-mail address 2) a little bit, just a sentence or two, about a place that is dear to you.

2. You can only comment once–if you comment more than that, you’ll be disqualified. One entry per person, please.

3. Followers get an extra entry.

That’s all! I’m hoping to keep it simple. And yes, the contest is open internationally, so feel free to enter. I will announce the winner in my blog post on Tuesday, June 21.

Good luck!

And, P.S. The winner of POSSESSION is ATHENA, who said she can’t help but break the “rule” of no snacking before dinner. Congratulations, Athena!! Thanks to all of you for entering!

When I was a child, one of my best friends and I built a fort in the woods behind my grandmother’s house. I still have very fond memories of the summer we spent reading and spitting watermelon seeds in there.

A place that is dear to me would be PEI, Canada, where I live right now. These days, when the farmers are out ploughing the red soil, and the river by my house is so clear, and I can go to the beach and walk in the sand, or walk by the waterfront in Charlottetown… I don’t see how I could ever leave here.

I’m actually writing a dystopia now that’s set on PEI but about 500 years in the future, but it’s now covered by hundred and thousands of boring, white skyscrapers (there’s currently a law that says you can’t build anything higher than five stories). That, to me, is one of the saddest aspects of my dystopia, that my favourite place in the world has been ruined.

Western North Carolina is dear to me. I spent 8 summers at camp in Hendersonville, NC which is a charming town in the beautiful mountains. It was close to national forests and waterfalls and rivers. And, of course, all my camp friends were there with me.

So many of the places that are dear to me are from my childhood and don’t even exist anymore. I guess this either goes to show that I’m growing old or to be cautious about invitng me over because your house will end up getting torn down.

If I could go back to any place it would be to the back yard of my best friend Jenny’s house. I’d love to have one more day to play in the barn, swim in the pool and climb the trees.

Ooohhh CROSSED. Seriously. Words cannot explain how extremely excited I am.
A place that is very dear to me is probably home. Home in the general sense of the word. I know it’s appallingly cheesy, but home truly is where the heart is. Where my family is. The most important place to me is home. I honestly wouldn’t care where home was, even if we moved tomorrow or something and I hated the house, home would still be the most important.

Oh, this is amazing! Thanks for making it international :)

A place that’s I hold close to my heart is a place I’ve only been to once, but will never forget. I went to Rome and stayed transfixed to the Trevi Fountain for hours while the sun beat down against my neck, but the marble faces, and the beautiful fountain water just had me mesmerized. I threw a coin in that day, as I’ve never felt so serene in a place that wasn’t my very own home, and hope to return and feel it again.

    God, I’m such a cornball :)

    Can’t wait for crossed, regardless.

I live in Arizona but Chicago will always be a place dear to me because that’s where I grew up. There is a special connection you feel to a place that holds childhood memories. I can picture so clearly in my mind the house I grew up in. Whenever I dream about a place, oddly, it’s my childhood home. So Arizona has been my home for 13 years and although I love it here, Chicago, Illinois will always have my heart. Even in May its covered with snow and looks like a painting quiet and serene. My favorite place that is most dear to me would be my grandma and grandpa’s house in Kentucky. Their house is kind of hidden in the world and back by some woods. Their yard, both front and back, is so peaceful. When I sit outside on the porch, all I hear are the birds singing all around me and the little crickets and sorts chirping with one another. The view is magnificent, trees all around and mountains behind them, so amazing. And the times when my whole family goes outside it is wonderful because we are so secluded from the town, we feel like we are the only ones.

    Hi! my email is caitiecarr96@gmail.com
My favorite place is hawaii. The lush hills and magnificent waterfalls make my heart stop in their beauty. When I go we always rent a convertable car so we can smell the early morning dew and the frequent rain showers. I always go with my family so we can enjoy the time together.

I haven’t been there much because I live in Europe, but Boston is where my cousin who is much older and took care of me as a baby lives. She is more of a mother figure than a cousin. It’s also one of the few places in the world I feel completely comfortable, which says a lot since I’m always anxious. I love it there so much, I’ve even thought of moving there – now I just have to have the nerve to do it :-)

It’s hard for me to choose only one place that is dear to me… I love to travel, to see new places and form new memories with each of them. If I had to choose, it would be Burlington, Vermont. It’s so different from my home, peaceful amid the Green Mountains.

My favorite place in the world is outside of Philadelphia, in Langhorne, PA. I stayed there at my best friend’s grandparents’ house for 2 weeks while I had a training. It’s small, and you can walk everywhere, but it’s close enough to Philly to have tons of things to do. But mainly, I love it for the memories we made and the time I got to spend with my friend and his family.

My mother died when I was eleven from breast cancer. She was 31 years old and was diagnosed May 2007 and died October 2009. (Which is a long time to live for stage 4 breast cancer.) If you want to read more my mom’s cancer blog is, amberchase.weebly.com.
Anyway, a place dear to my heart is the cemetery where she is buried. Whenever I go I get such a peaceful feeling that she loves me and wants the best for me. When we knew she was going to die she was not concerned for herself, she was concerned about leaving my siblings and I motherless. I love her so much and I know that she’s still watching out for me.

My father was in the Army so I grew up all over the world. so you would think the place that is most dear to me would be someplace exotic but it’s not. It’s Logan. Because we moved all the time there wasn’t a lot of consistency in my life growing up. The one thing that was consistent were our yearly trips to Logan to see my grandmothers, aunts, uncles and cousins. Not very many of them still live in Logan but I still get all warm and fuzzy when I drive into the valley because of the great memories I have of summers there.

The place that will always be dearest to me is where ever my mother is. My life has taken so many different roads over the last three years: I joined the US Military, moved far away from home for the first time, lost my childhood home to foreclosure, lost my grandmother to cancer, met the man of my dreams, and got married. I have a great life right now, full of so many amazing people and opportunities, but no matter where I am, I miss my mom the most. She has this amazing ability to make where ever she is feel like the place where I grew up – safe and warm and absolutely loved. Whether it is my grandmother’s small trailer that she inherited after she passed away, a hotel room, or the house of a friend where she is staying; where ever she is, is the dearest place on earth to me.

Where to start? I’ve traveled a lot, so there are many many places that I love. Right now, though, I’d have to say my host family’s home from last summer. I stayed for nearly three months with a family friend. They have six little boys, so I was basically a live in nanny for them the entire summer. They live in Jordan, and it was just such an amazing experience to stay with them. Lately, I’ve really been missing one of my friends from Jordan, and feeling just a little nostalgic for last summer.

Just one place? I like places. I like traveling. I like Jamaica, because it feels both big and small in my mind, and it has jungles and beaches both, and crocodiles and dolphins and crazy flowers and all this color despite the poverty I saw. And I like San Antonio, a city not too far from me, which for some reason continues to smell like chocolate chip pancakes in my head. And I like my bed, because it’s up high and the walls around it are covered with dreamcatchers and posters and printouts of anticipated book covers, and the bed itself is so filled with books and blankets and stuffed animals that I have to sleep at one little edge of it, so it feels more like a nest sometimes than a bed.

There’s a cabin up right hand canyon in the mountains above Cedar City that is absolutely dear to me. Although the scenery is beautiful, it is the cabin itself that has the real attraction for me. There’s a unique feeling of peace and love there, one that I attribute to the fact that it has been hosting happy gatherings of my parents’ treasured friends and family (and kids-adopted and home-grown) for over 20 years now.

Thank you so much for this opp to win Crossed! I would have to say that my favorite place is Costa Rica, in particular the Volcan Arenal region. I went there on my honeymoon and we stayed in a lodge that overlooked the volcano. It’s a very active volcano and we were able to lie in our bed at night and watch the lava flow down the sides. it was pretty spectacular. Of course, there is much more to Costa Rica, but that’s the best memory! I can’t wait to go back.

My favorite place takes a while to get to. There is a trail up Big Cottonwood Canyon in Utah called Lake Blanche. The hike is a three mile hike up with a 2,580 elevation climb throughout the hike. But the beautiful part isn’t just the lake– it’s behind it. If you go around through a not as traveled trail, you can find the base of the waterfall that empties out into the lake. With some tricky maneuvering, there is a rock under a tall pine tree in the middle of the water at the base of the waterfall. You can sit there and listen to the roar of the water going all around you. It’s worth the four and a half hour round trip hike just for a few moments of sitting there. (Or an hour).

My favourite place is my garden. Right now it’s full of blooming flowers and lots of birds. Just last week I spent 15 minutes watching tiny tomtits learning how to fly and being fed by their very busy parents. I love the sounds of the animals surrounding me, the chirping of the blackbirds and tomtits, the frogs in the pond nearby and also the wind in the trees. It’s one of the best places to read a well-written and exciting book. :-)

Of all the places I have been in the world, the place that is near and dear to my heart are in the mountains in Wyoming. Growing up, we would go camping in a little area called Laramie Peak around the 4th of July. I loved floating down Horseshoe Creek on a tire intertube and watch the clouds go by. I would listen to the water rush and gurgle, wondering ‘where would this little creek take me if I kept floating?’ I miss the beautiful landscape and smell of the pine trees…oh, to be able to go back to that time and place.

A place that is dear to me? Well, there are many places I love, some more mundane than others, but my favourite place has to be this small village in Galway, called Carraroe. My entire extended family go there, and everyday we head to the beach, or eachothers houses and just have fun. The nights are even better! I could not imagine having a better time. It is my childhood, solidified.
So, I guess my favourite place isn’t so much about the place, but the people who are there… I hope this still counts. :)

Ugh. I don’t know. There are so many places that I love and so many places I want to go (some of which don’t actually exist) and if it were based on memories of a place, I might pick the area around Atlanta, Georgia. But thinking about it more, I’d say South Texas (this being farther south than San Antonio AND Corpus Cristi), where I live right now, because thinking on it, I think that as much as I want to get out of here, when I do leave, I’ll miss it so much. Because yeah, it’s really dry and hot and it never rains, but there’s a beauty in that. It’s not very green, but the green that we do have when summer comes around looks so much more vibrant because of that, and it’s the same thing with the rain and the clouds and the cold. Besides, the sky here is really pretty.

I haven’t been a whole lot of places, but my favorite place is Gilbert, Arizona. I’ve lived here my whole life and even in the scorching summer it’s still my favorite. I love it because it’s a big town and everything I could need is nearby, but I can hardly go anywhere without seeing someone I know, so it sort of retains that small town feeling. Despite living across the ocean and only having the opportunity to visit every few years, it has always been and will always be my favourite place.

I live in Ireland, and my favourite place is a little town on the south coast. I actually live and work about two hours away, but any chance I get I’m down there, walking on the beach or the prom wall, depending on the tide. :) There is nothing like walking by the sea to lift your spirits.

Thanks for running the giveaway! I really hope I win.

A place special to me is my hometown and the place I still live (but not for long). I live in New Orleans and everyone knows that this place is one of a kind. And it truly is. The food, the culture, the entertainment; it’s home. I won’t be here much longer and I AM excited to get away because it is a bit overwhelming sometimes, but I know once I’m gone I’ll miss it all the time and the trips home will be that much more important and fulfilling.

A place that is dear to me is my home. Yeah, I bet some were expecting an exciting place like Las Vegas but I’ve never gone anywhere that has blown my mind. Just LA. My home is a place where I can read happily, play with my baby niece, and play pranks on my siblings. It’s where I find comfort. I can’t imagine living anywhere else, really. :)

The place closest to my heart would be my grand-parents house, in Tusket Falls N.S.
I love it there because it is beautiful in any season, and lots of my favorite memories come from there. We spend every Christmas there. In the winter, you could swear you just entered a winter wonderland!

To name one of the places dear to me, it would have to be a local park in my hometown; to be specific, the monument that is almost in the hidden part of the park. I’ve played there, I’ve made friends there, I’ve even lost some them there. So whenever I’m back home, I always find myself drifting back to that place and remembering where I was the last time I was there and how things have changed.

A place that is dear to me is on Put-In-Bay on Lake Erie. It’s right on the water, this spot, and someone painted the word “LOVE” across several of the rocks. Looking from that out onto the water at sunset is just amazing. I love it.

Darn…I lost the last giveaway! No big surprise. But here’s hoping for this one! :)

A place that is near and dear to my heart is…the beach! So many childhood memories of playing in the sand and surf, of building huge bonfires and eating corn on the cob cooked in ocean salt water. Of being a young teenager and laying out on the sand hoping that some boys would check us out. And now, all I want in the world is to take my family there and let them wear themselves out looking for sea shells and building sand castles. Oh, and I absolutely love standing in the shallow water and the feeling of the waves running over my feet! And with each wave, my feet seem to sink deeper and deeper into the sand. I love that!

Ally you are doing so many amazing things – I’m so excited for you and I can’t wait to read this book too! I have to agree that one of the places that is dear to me is Southern Utah. Whenever we visit Cedar part of me thinks – this is so small it’s funny that I grew up here. But, then I am always captivated by the beautiful mountains, kind people, and great memories from my protected childhood. I love the street I grew up on and how we had the freedom to roam in between homes. Even though we’ll probably never live there again, it is a great place to have as my childhood home.

My favorite place is our local tea shop. It’s a wonderfully soothing place, you can sit either at tables (on chairs or couches, as you prefer) or on little poufs on pavillions looking out over the street. And you can nurse a pot of tea for hours, or buy as many different kinds as you like; you can have snacks and read or write (but there’s no internet connection to distract you) or talk with friends — I’ve never spent an hour in there that I regretted, unless it was having to leave too soon.

There are so many favorite places to choose from…but I will go with Zion National Park. Growing up, my family stopped there many a time, on our way to and fro visiting family. And now that I have my own little brood, we go there whenever we want to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. It’s stunning! Plus my husband and I have made more than one romantic weekend up there as well. Zion will always be one of my favorite places.

Once my friend and I found this place behind an old building. There is this overlook where you can see Lake Champlain ahead and when you look down you can see the steep hill with huge boulders below. We loved a bit of adventure so we went down the steep hill where we had to hold onto trees to keep us from falling down. It’s sad because my friend moved away and now her mom is in the hospital, but I still go to our special place to remember her and pray for her mom.

WOW, I am desperate for this book.

A place that is dear to me is Ampthill Park. It is a giant park about 25 minutes away from me. It has a kids area that I played in when I was little and still like to sit on the swings when it’s quiet. Then you can walk round it by the trees. There are rabbits and other animals about, and when you get to the top of one of the hills you can look out over Bedfordshire and see for miles. It’s so freeing and really makes you think about the beauty of the world. I love it there, I feel so at peace there. A place that’s dear to me is the open piece of land where I grew up. My house was located on a piece of my grandparent’s land in a town of 350 people. My favorite place was our trampoline outside; I used to lay there, staring at the stars…wondering what I would do with my life, where I’d live, and even what it would be like to leave the small, small town. Now that I’m an adult, I see how simple life was at that time. How many responsibilities I didn’t have. How innocent I was. How big my dreams were. I still have big dreams, but now there’s a big dose of reality that often balances them out. I also live in a big city with few opportunities to see the sky in all it’s glory. Our house doesn’t exist there anymore, so all I have are the memories. I can’t return as an adult to stare at the sky, and soak in the quiet peacefulness.

The place that is dearest to me… that would have to be an empty lot with a lac walnut tree in the middle. My friends, siblings, and I let our imaginations run wild. We made a imaginary world with houses, cars, and “kid-rules”. The best part about it was it was a great place to chill and spend quality time!

I have a hard time with favorites, but one place I really love is this park near my old house. It was always green and beautiful. Usually it was pretty empty and a great place to just sit and think. My brothers and I or my friends and I would bike there a lot too.

This may sound simple and a bit teen-angsty, but my bedroom has always remained a very dear place to me. It’s the one place I can just simply be while traveling into different other worlds as I read, and is also a great escape when I need some down-time from the world and the hardships around me. Haha, pretty angsty, eh?

There is this place near my apartment it has a boardwalk and you have the ocean so close and the same time so far away. You see how infinite it is. That place make me wish for better things and at night you can see the moon reflect in the ocean. Is one of the best views I had ever seen. It makes me wait for good things to happen.

P.S. LOVE!!! your book. One of the best I’d read.

I can’t wait to read Crossed! :) One place that is dear to me is a place called Point Robinson Beach. It has the softest sand that turns this gorgeous golden color in the sunshine, and so many beautiful shells of every color, and icy cold saltwater that swishes at the shore like a big blue tail. Plus it’s on an island, so one can only get to it by boat :)

My favorite place to be is near water. Any kind of water, but mostly I love waterfalls. Water always makes me feel incredibly at peace with everything. If I am ever feeling glum, weather permitting, I will head for water. We don’t have too many waterfalls where I live now, but we have lots of lakes and I just love them all! :)

A place that is very dear to me, no matter how weird it may sound, is the bathroom. Because, recurring foul smell aside, it’s one of the best places where I can just think and let my emotions loose. Not to mention, it’s a good place to record personal compositions and stuff. :)

I have a thing for special dear places. It’s where I do all my thinking, writing, and brainstorming. When I was a freshman in college, there was an LDS temple about 10 minutes from my apartment. I wasn’t able to go inside at the time, but whenever my days weren’t exactly enjoyable, I would go there. I would drive my little ’92 stick shift beater car there, and sit in the parking lot, sometimes for hours. It was peaceful, and it’s where most of my good ideas, solutions to problems and comfort came. I live in NY now, and sitting in the parking lot, in the small town of Manti is something I miss the most.

A place dear to me is the Kentucky River at the spot where the Valley View ferry crosses the river. There is a beautiful view and even though cars go through the area to cross the ferry, its peaceful and quiet. One of my favorite places is near Blair Castle in Scotland where my husband and I went camping on our second honeymoon. We arrived after dark and pitched the tent having no idea what the area looked like in the daylight. We awoke at dawn to a deep fog covering the land. As the sun rose and burned off the fog, we discovered ourselves in a small green valley with heather covered hills all around. It was stunning and I will remember that morning forever.

A place that is dear to me is my Nanny and Pepere’s kitchen. When I was younger I remember going there to have homemade chicken and dumplings and sitting at the white Formica table with the black and gold designs in it that I would trace with the base of my fork. Then, after dinner, my sister and I would play on the stairs – being careful to never actually go up them because we weren’t allowed up there – but some times sneaking up and up to see how high we could go. Our Pepere would catch us and call us back down to sit on his lap to tell us stories about how we are related to French royalty. He always smelled like tobacco and Canada mints. Then Nanny would make strawberry rhubarb pie and let us play in the small living room until we went home.
I would give anything to see them both once again, to sit in that kitchen that was never the same once they both passed away. But it is still one of those places I go in my memory that makes me feel like home.

A place that I hold dear would be my high school. It was such a small community that everyone knew everyone, so you were able to build connections that will last forever. I’m glad I went there because I wouldn’t have had the experiences I had or met the people that now hold a special place in my heart.

Thank you so much for hosting this giveaway. That’s so sweet of you, and I’m really looking forward to reading CROSSED.

I use to have this chair at my parent’s house I always sat in when I read. Back then, I read with a highlighter in hand, ready to find metaphors or whatever, but still. I miss that chair.

I just finished Matched and had to come and check out your website! I’m a young fellow English teacher, and let me just say, I feel inspired reading your book! After months of seeing it on my students’ desks, I decided to see what all of the hype was about, and I’m in love :)

A place that is dear to me is the rockingchair in my one-year-old son’s bedroom. I love when he grabs a book off the shelf and climbs onto my lap… Even though he usually closes the book before the story is over. These are the simple moments that I will cherish for the rest of my life!

Behind my house, there’s this little foresty area with a tire swing and this huge tree that my siblings and I loved climbing. It was right up against the fence of our neighbors, who had horses, so my sisters and I would spend entire afternoons pushing each other on the tire swing and feeding the horses and braiding their manes with flowers.

A place that is very dear to me is my parents’ house. However, now that I’m officially moved out and my old bedroom has been converted into a different room, I think the dearness of the house stems from the fact that my sweet parents live there and from all my good memories there rather than an actual, current attachment to the house.

A place that is dear to me is a little park in the next town over (right in Provo). It is pretty hidden and most people don’t know it is there, since it just looks like a parking lot surrounded by trees. Once you park though, you cross a bridge and are taken to this beautiful (and quite big) park, complete with a huge duck pond, the Provo river, a few pavilions, a playground, and some picnic tables in the wooded area surrounding it. My son and I love to go there. It’s our secret spot! :)

A place dear to me? Can I go with the cheesy “my bedroom” answer? It’s a small, cozy place, where no one can disturb me and I can be alone. My room is also pretty self-sufficient. ;) I’ve got books, school work (not fun) a comfy bed and quiet. It’s my safe-house, my Fortress of Solitude.

    Hi Ally, love your books!!

During the summer, I sit with a good book in the front room of my house in a comfy chair that is molded to my shape. What a hard question!? I guess I don’t get out much or something because I’m racking my brain to answer this.

I’d have to go with the place I meet my husband, a members only outdoor pool. He was a life guard and I a measly swimmer that couldn’t take my eyes off him. We’ll be married 9 years this month! :)

My absolute favorite place is in the world is Edinburgh, Scotland. I am of Scottish heritage and have traveled there once. Walking the centuries old streets, taking in all the green scenery and the very magical feeling I get when I’m there… well, there’s nothing quite like going back to your roots. Its so amazing its even the gray weather can’t get me down about it. :)

My father is in the military, so the most dear place to me is my grandmother’s house. No matter where I go or what I do, I know that Mimi’s house will always be where it’s always been, over 1000 miles away, but I will never feel like I don’t belong. It will always be warm and invitiing. It has and always will be my home away from my ever changing home.

The place that is dearest to my heart is the small town I grew up in. I lived in Delaware until I was 17, when I left to go to University. I grew up resenting the small size and close-knit of this community, but now I really miss it.

First, I just want to say that I absolutely, undeniably, loved Matched.

At a park near my house, there is a swing set that I used to always go to when I needed some space to think and try and make sense of my life. One summer all I did was go there for hours and swing because both my parents had been diagnosed with cancer and the most liberating feeling was picking my feet off the ground and pushing myself into the depths of the night sky.

    2. A gigantic New Zealand Christmas Tree, over 70 years old located on top of this enormous hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean and White Island (a Volcano). One of those trees that have so many branches that stretch out and twist and turn, it creates a cavern, so when you step through the branches, leaves and flowers you feel like you are entering another world. I suppose it isn’t rightfully a “place,” but I can’t help but feel at home whenever the sun shines on me – I’ll even walk around without a jacket on when it’s 45 degrees as long as it’s sunny. I just drink it up. When the sun welcomes me into its soft arms once again (Washington isn’t known for seeing it often, mind), there are no bad moods, and I remember a more simple time, one that rests comfortably and warmly before the grey skies and the cancer washed over my family and my life. Ah, sweet daydreaming and nostalgia.

Place I Love: There is a very special place that I go to that I call “The Leaves.” It’s nothing fancy–just a picnic table surrounded by oak trees, on a ledge overlooking the river, but it’s a place that is very dear to my heart.

The Leaves is the place where I fell in love. It’s the place where I challenged every convention I have ever known and it’s where I learned that it’s okay to be afraid as long as you follow your heart. It’s the place where I was forced to say goodbye to the one person who made my heart sing, and it’s the place where my heart broke like it’s never been broken before. But it’s also the place I find peace and healing. It’s the place I go to find myself when I feel lost and most of all, it’s the place where I feel most like myself.

It’s the very best place to be. :)

A place that I hold very close to me is this trail out in Cape Cod that leads to a private beach. This trail is right outside of the little studio that I and my family stay in for the summer and I follow the path almost daily, always finding new things, whether it be in the woods or in myself. It’s where I do most of my thinking and decision making and sometimes it’s almost as if that one place belongs to me. And that’s why that trail is so special to me.

The place that is dearest to me is none other than my elementary school playground. I am a university student now, so elementary school is quite a long time ago. However, as anyone can tell you, we always feel like we grew up too fast and that is why we always reminisce about our childhood. My elementary school was small, only about 20 kids per grade, and every family knew everyone else. My fondest memories are of my time at my elementary school, and I would always use the playground as a place to unwind. It was big enough (almost the same size as the school) to play any games on as a kid, and close enough to my house that I could ride my bike or walk there as I grew older. It was surrounded on two sides by a farm pasture that housed cows, one side by a forest that we were not allowed to enter (but always snuck into anyways) and the school itself. Surrounding the main field was a line of pine trees that I had helped plant my final year at the school, even naming my tree. If at anytime when I was growing up, I needed to be alone, I would just sit on the swings and think, listening to the cows and the birds. As I grew older, it became a place for my friends and I to meet to play frisbee or kickball or hang out when our parents wouldn’t let us do what we wanted. I would go their with my boyfriend to make out back when we were terrified of our parents knowing we were in a relationship. I went there to cry after that boyfriend and I had broken up because it was the only place that I could be alone. When the school was low on money, my small elementary was the first to be cut. The whole community got together and threw a giant barbeque on the field, everyone was going to miss our little elementary school. I met up with a bunch of old friends (I was in University at this point) and we walked the giant playground and told stories of who knocked out a tooth tripping on that tree root, or who always played the mom when we played house in the alcove of trees. That day holds some of my fondest memories of being reunited with old friends, and my childhood. Luckily the new owners of the building left the playground up and open to the public, so I can still go there and sit on the swings whenever I come home from school.

The place most special to me is probably my uncle’s house. He has this charming, tiny little guest cabin, my aunt keeps a gorgeous garden and they have chickens that lay eggs every day and me and my sister always get to go collect them. It’s in a cute California town on the coast near a beach. I haven’t been there for a while because my uncle has severe Parkinson’s decease, but I hope to visit this summer.

A place that’s really dear to me would be the Franklin Institute in Philly, just an hour or so from my house. Now I know what you’re thinking, and, no, I am not a geek. If anything, I’m just a reading/history addict. Well, actually, according to my brother . . . – but that’s not the point. Anyway, I’ve been going there since I was in the first grade, and, since then, I’ve gotten to know the place like the back of my hand. I love history, and I love going to the museum to see the temporary exibits, and the permanent ones. Of all of them, I’d say that some of the most memorable would have to be Cleopatra, King Tut, and Titanic (not to mention the permanent, kid-friendly exibit that holds a LOT of memories of my brother and I messing around back when we were younger, before we weren’t allowed in anymore. :( Yes, it WAS a very sad day for us, two little 8-and-10-year-olds. And don’t worry, it’s been a few years. I’m a teen now. We’ve moved on, and you can take my word for it.). It is so cool how history tells a story, just like a really good book. I guess that’s why I love them both so much. (Funny how the Bible is both history AND a good book. I guess thats why I love it so much. And, yes, that was random.) I feel like I can really connect with and understand the characters – the people who make up history – by learning their stories, like how you mentioned that you’re most interested in how the characters in your stories act, and why they act that way – their thoughts, their feelings. I feel like I can relate with that. Lastly (and finally), I’m really sorry about writing so much, and I know you said “just a sentance or two,” but I guess I just tend to ramble about things that I love. Like you said earlier, “I can’t help it”. Thanks so much for reading, and God bless!

    2) the ocean is my place of peace. i visit southern california twice or more a year. in the dead of winter i yearn for it’s warmth and breeze of salt. i yearn for it’s sand, the way it sticks to my skin and how easily i can brush it off. i yearn for the water, the water that has gone more places than i ever will go. the ocean reminds me there is so much more on the horizon for me, that there is more to me than just what others see. my favorite thing to do on the beach is to put in my ipod and listen to my favorite songs of inspiration and just walk, walk with the waves hitting my little piggys. it may be cliche, but it’s the place that is truely me.

A place that is very dear to me is a small stone bridge in my hometown that has been long forgotten by most people when the new condos went up in front of it.
When I was a little kid my dad and I would go there every Saturday night, sit down on the bridge and talk about our week and anything that was on our minds, plans for the next weekend we spent together or what was going on with school/his work, anything really. We’d go just after the sun went down and the stars came out.
It’s been 6 years since we last sat on that bridge but it’s still there and it’s one of my favorite places, it holds a lot of precious conversations.

The place dearest to me was a specific dorm room at Northeastern University’s honors housing last year. Room 604 meant home to me.

My best guy friend lived there and the other five boys were my boyfriend’s friends and quickly became mine as well.

We had family dinners together, movie nights, birthday celebrations, late breakfast on snowdays. I was the token girl in the group and they always took care of me.

A place I just love is the elephant exhibit at my local zoo. Its a small zoo so not a lot of people are there on weekdays and I always go there when I need to be alone and think or relax. I watch the elephants eat and roam and play and it makes things simpler. I even bought a year membership so I can go anytime and not have to worry about paying to get in.

My in-laws’ home is dear to me. Even though I haven’t lived in it, they’ve lived in it almost all their lives, which makes it feel like such a solid, warm, and happy place (my family moved around a lot and eventually split, so I have no home-I-grew-up-in to go back to).

My favorite place is Washington D.C., where when you walk the streets you can feel the history as though it is being inhaled every time you breathe. All of the monuments, museums, and artifacts give the illusion that you were there when so many of the different events in our country’s history occurred. It’s so refreshing to absorb so much knowledge and information in such a beautiful place.

Our little vacation house by the ocean is a place very dear to me. Yes, I love the water and the slow pace of the town–but it’s more than that. It’s the two hour drive that allows my husband and I to talk; it’s the built in excuse for my son to spend a weekend with his grandparents; it’s the barefoot run; it’s the afternoons curled up with a book. It is the memories made there that make it so dear. jenniferfoster122@gmail.com

Okay…so I have a few favorite places, but one I went to recently was the library I have gone to since I was three years old. It holds many of my favorite childhood memories. That library is like my little treasure trove. Honestly, it’s the dearest place to me in that city. It’s calm and quiet, and yet, when I am ensconced in a good book, I feel like I am breathing the characters’ breath, feeling their swirling emotions, and the world around me vanishes. A place that will hold a dear significant part of my heart whether I am in the area or not is a place in Charlottesville, Virginia. It is a place called Blue Hole near Crozet, Virginia. You have to drive there and park. Then you hike part way up a mountain. The view is gorgeous. The sounds magical. “Why can’t everywhere feel like this?” are the thoughts that spring up in my head. When you get to the destination you look down and see a blue hole. A hole filled with water and a waterfall. You have two choices. To climb down to the water, safetly or get your heart pumping as you snatch hold of a rope and swing down and drop into the water below. Of course I always choose the rope, even though it scares me to death, I feel alive. I have calluses on my hands counting the number of times I have held this very same rope. I always swiftly drop down into the ice cold water below. Afterwards, I find the rock that has been simply made for my back. The curves of my body fit simply into the curves of the rock and I simply read for hours with no interruption but a passing bird calling out. It is a place of life, adventure, and security. I escape not only into this hole but also into a book. This is a place that will always have a hold on my life, heart, and soul.

Once, when I was very sad about something, my best friend took me to see a waterfall in Osceola, Wisconsin, close to where I live. A place where I seriously think is dear to me is nature, you know like camping. Forget the bugs (that’s why there is bug spray aka insect repellent) When camping, the woods are the environment. The best part is you are connecting with what the world already had pre-made for you; it was there all along, since the start of time. Not the man-made stuff. Oh no. The natural stuff. Honestly, It reminds me of the bushes and foliage Ky and Cassia were enveloped in as they had writing lessons on the heal. Those lessons were delightful to read. And the setting, may I add, was good old green-and-fresh mother nature.

  • Stephanie
    June 15, 2011

Having moved ten times and visiting most of the continental US, it is safe to say I have many favorite places. From the Chesapeake bay because of the many summers spent there in sailing camp, to the highest peak of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina I call home, all the way to the barren beauty of The Badlands of North Dakota and winding Highway 1 along the Pacific coast… these are just four of the places where I have so many happy memories. But of all the places I’ve been, and all the things I’ve seen, one place stands out to me, and I think it is so funny, because it is so cliche. My favorite place is Times Square. And it is not necessarily because of its location, the heart of New York, which is reason enough to love it best. No, Times Square is my favorite because of the heady feelings it arouses within me. Times Square is positively bursting with life, filled with activity and people all hours of the day — the city that never sleeps, indeed. Times Square makes you feel larger than life, like you are in the most important, the most vibrant, the most ALIVE place on the entire planet, in the whole universe, at least within the slice we comprehend. But at the same time, as just one of the many people, like one of so many ants marching, going nowhere and anywhere and everywhere, you feel so small, so swallowed up within the city, so insignificant compared to its mass, that you feel like nothing at all. I have felt both of these conflicting feelings, feeling larger than life and so small in comparison to everything to be practically nonexistent, in each place I’ve ever been, but never have I felt them both so strongly at the same time. And rather than being the opposites you would think they are, the feelings rather complement each other as you stand under those bright lights, watching the tourists look up as they walk, gawking, and the city dwellers looking down, dashing to get from point A to point B, and the cars honking and people talking and things flashing, whipping you up in a frenzied, euphoric feeling of just living, breaking upon you the dawning realization that this is life, to be huge and small and everything in between because it is all so relative… who said you needed to be a rocket scientist to understand the theory of relativity? You only need thirty seconds in New York City to figure it out. It’s the only place that has ever made me feel huge and small, so very important and utterly insignificant, all at the same time, and it didn’t even scare me, when the thought of being small compared to everything else normally freaks me out. In that first moment under those lights as I breathed in time with the city, which seemed to have a life of its own under the scurrying feet of all those people and cars and buses, I think I finally felt what it meant to be truly alive and at peace with everything that comes with it — love, loss, happiness, pain, and the inevitable, eventual end… how can a place that gives you that peace, that sense of calm and balance while making you feel more alive than ever, NOT be your favorite place, even if it is very cliche? So even though I am sure hundreds will give this very answer, that New York is their favorite place, I can at least say I gave a pretty good reason as to why it is for me. Email address is stephaniekburns at gmail dot com.

I live in Farmington, Utah (go Utahns!), but lived in Mexico City, Mexico for 3 years (11-14) as my parents were LDS mission presidents. I miss it! Just to go back and walk around my old neighborhood, or sit on my old roof (looking at the pet exotic animals that my old neighbor, a retired Mexican soap opera star, had on her roof) would be a dream come true. My favorite place in the whole wide world is the Costume Closet in the Drama classroom at my high school. It’s full of racks and racks of beautiful and sometimes zany costumes. And even though other students turn up their noses and say it’s dusty and dirty and claim that it’s “rat-infested”, I could spend hours in there just admiring and trying on all of the gorgeous costumes. It holds a special place in my heart because I worked as the costume designer for my high school’s production of Carlo Gozzi’s “The King Stag” last year and many of the costumes I borrowed from the closet actually ended up in the show! And that show is my favorite, out of all of the shows I’ve ever been a part of, because of the amazing costumes I found from the Costume Closet and because of the bonds I forged with other theater kids. My email is hpfanzdf@aim.com.

The place dearest to me is on the stage. I love how the moment you walk out in front of an audience (even if it’s just in a rehearsal and the only one watching is your director), you are instantly transported and transformed. I get to try on different lives and personas with every costume change. I get to visit different places and times with every new set. And even more exciting, I get to bring the people in the audience along with me–helping them forget about whatever world they are in and enter the world of the show I am in for a little while at least. With the exception of reading, performing is absolutely the greatest way to become someone new. My email is erin.d.davies@gmail.com.

My name is Cristy Zermeño. My email adress is myfirstone@sbcglobal.net. My Favorite place in the world is Disneyland in Anaheim, California. It truly is the place where dreams come true. My family and I have been going for 18 years and each time is as magical as the last. We can all practically go through the whole park with our eyes closed. I think, even though the park would most likely be closed in the Society, it would be interesting for Cassia to see something that the people from before her time enjoyed for many years. She would see (what would be left of) the rides, the statues, and (most importently) the castle.

My favorite place in the world is Lake Tahoe, Nevada. My family has had a little cabin there for generations, but I would love it there anyway. In the middle of basically a desert is a beautiful oasis. The lake and the mountains placed side by side are absolutely stunning. It’s the perfect place to relax and either close your eyes in the sun or read book after book.

My favorite place is really more of a time and and place. It is Half Moon Bay, California when I was seventeen. My brother and I went to visit our father and he took us there. It was our first time to the west coast and we were awe-struck by the beauty of the ocean, the beaches, and the coastline. We made a fake treasure map and put it in a bottle and threw it into the ocean. Of course it came right back to us, but we didn’t care. We had a picnic on the sand and went home with our clothes filled with sand, but the memory of that day, that place, that time is one that I will cherish always.

I am so joyful and happy when we get into the city. It is also the first place my boyfriend and I visited that was out of our local area. We have been together for 4 and a half years and it is very special. We try to spend a long weekend there together once or twice a year and it never fails to relax me. I love Cleveland and I will always visit no matter how far away I live.

My super uber fav place in the world would be a graveyard in Mt Holly New Jersey. My father was the first person to ever take me there, he showed me the headstones and told me to remember those that have passed, because some no one comes to visit anymore. I would go and well talk to them and tell them they are not forgotten. It made me feel at peace with death and that one day I know I will be buried there hopefully by the big tree in the back.

I have never been to my favorite place in the world; my favorite places lie scattered throughout mystical worlds, between the pages of a book. A place that is dear to me is this little spot on the beach of lake michigan, Grand Haven, not too far from my house. There is never many people there and it gives me a chance to get out and be free. I usually lay out in the summer with a good book or to just write. Matched was one that I couldn’t put down. (: Or also Jersey City, New Jersey. I go there once a month to visit and I will sit at Liberty Park over looking the city of Manhattan for hours, whether reading talking on the phone or writing, I cannot get enough of that city.

Currently I am reading MATCHED and LOVE it. I can actualy picture wat is going on in the book while reading and I know that everything will work out how it is meant to. One of my favorite places in the world is the Monterey Bay Aquarium. When my children were little, and my husband was stationed at the DLI in Monterey, I would take the kids to the aquarium when I needed to relax. I could sit for hours at the deep ocean exhibit, just watching the fish swim by. Even though I now live on the opposite side of the country, the Monterey Bay Aquarium will always have a place in my heart.

Second a place that’s special to me is my grandparents house. They live on 12 acres out in the country and it’s so quiet and peaceful. They have lots of land and you can disappear into the woods or a field for a while and just be able too breath. It also has some of my best childhood memories. My cousins and I practically grew up together out there and it means so much because that’s where everything good in life happened. When my cousins and I are back out there it’s a chance for us to leave all of our issues and “grown up” (we’re only in high school) things behind us and just relive some of our favorite memories and be kids again.

A place that is dear to me is in the apartment complex that I grew up in, which I now sadly live halfway across the US from. In the middle of one of the courtyards, there were 3 huge trees grouped in a triangle. The roots had grown all over each other in between them, and had made a chair (of sorts) and a little circle where my friends and I would make pretend fires. Even though it’s been almost 6 years since I lived there, I remember it so well. It’s one of my favorite places in the world.

A place that will always be close to my heart is Westover School located in a small suburban town in Middlebury, Connecticut. Westover is an all girls school where I fortunate enough to complete my freshman year. Unlike Cassia, I have been given the chance to explore the various opportunities of my future and receive a priceless education. I have gained life long friend-ships similar to Cassia’s friendship with Xander, Ky, and Em. I have also learned as Cassia did that life is about making your own choices and to follow your heart.

The place I am drawn to the most is a low white soft chair that sits in our living room. When I sit in this chair, I can see part of the kitchen, the door to the studio, the hallway leading to the bathroom, the door to my daughters’ bedroom, the living room itself, and people as they come in the back door. Ours is a very busy house, so kids are always coming and going. Their attention is usually drawn somewhere else, so I can watch spontaneous interactions without influencing their behavior. I didn’t realize it until writing this post, but I guess I’d really rather be in the background observing and learning than up and in the spotlight.

A place that I deeply love is Riley Trail Park, in the small, small Oklahoman town I grew up in. Just off the side of the main road that connects our community to the rest of the world, the park lies in all its beauty. Golden light filters from the towering treetops, unto picnic tables and swings where children play and laugh and simply be. Old train tracks from the early 1900’s are evidence within the park that Noble was once more a suburb, a station for cargo and a symbol of movement and life. Being there, on the walking trails and grass and bridges that make paths over ravines, it makes me happy. It makes me remember the quaint little town that I forever will call my home.

A place dear to me is my grandparents apartment in Vallauris in the South of France. I’ve spent every summer there with my family since I was born. It’s a beautiful place located on a hill called “la Californie”. The view from the terrace is spectacular: you can see the Mediterranean Sea, the Cap d’Antibes and the Isles of Lerins. I’ve met some of my closest friends there when I was a child, we shared a lot together and still do, because even though we’re all grown up now we still meet there every summer. A lot of my favorite memories come from this place and that’s why it will always be close to my heart.

My mom and I love to go on road trips. I love getting to see the country–it’s all about the journey. As we travel, I try to identify what geographical marks are unique to a place. I know they must be there in every state, because before I even see the sign, I know when I am close to New Mexico. The land just looks different. So does the sky. I know my dirt and my sagebrush. I know know my mountains and rocks. I know my blue sky and brilliant white clouds. And when the car stops moving, and everything gets a little slower, I know my lizards and my coyotes, and my road runner. I know the smell of the air. This is my home.

My favorite spot is the beach that my mother used to take my sister and I as children. It was always too cold to swim for very long and very windy, but we would spend all day flying kites and meeting new people as they lit bonfires in the sand. That beach is where I saw my first jellyfish and is also where my mom and my stepdad were married. It isn’t perfect to most people who come to surf, tan, and swim, but there is nowhere else I would rather be than sitting with my toes in the sand and a blanket wrapped around my arms.

The place most dear to me. . .it would have to be Orange County (Buena Park), California. I know it seems like one of the most oddest places to choose, but I was born there and I lived there until I was about 8 years old. I loved the San Francisco Cookie Co. in the nearby mall, and hearing the sounds of Knott’s Berry Farm from my house. I enjoyed going out to Seal Beach with my grandparents, and waving as the news helicoptors flew overhead filming the beach. I even missed the school; how we would get out for luch on sunny days, and look up at the sky to see planes writing words or drawing pictures in the sky. Even though I only lived there as a child, it was the mots precious place to me that I could never forget, even if I tried.

I think the best place I can describe, that I treasure, is wherever my friends are. I’ve been to a lot of places and shared all the ups and downs of their lives, and I think that if I had the choice to go anywhere but I had to give that all away, I never could. Just this year I started university and I moved to Ireland (where my mother is originally from), growing up in Portugal I realised that it had become my home, and had become so much a part of me that I missed every single part of it. The smell of the ocean, the sun beating down on the beach, while I sat beneath a stone bridge. The fun times had there and the memories that came flooding back when I returned at the end of the semester. Although, the place is paradise to some people, it is more than that to me it is home and I know that I’ll never be as comfortable as I am than in Cascais, Portugal.

A place that is dear to me is the side deck of a beach house that we go to in North Caolina. During the day, I look as far as i can and see nothing but sea. With the cool ocean air blowing around me, and I wait for a shooting star. One always comes.

A place that is dear to me is my home in costa rica. So many memories have been saved in my mind, some of laughter and some of sadness. But it is the only place that I feel full of life but most importantly, alive,

I cannot wait to meet you in a couple months but I really can’t wait for crossed!!!

I love the book crossed I loved the whole idea. the diffferent story lies and how each one is crosed with each other. I love how complex the love triangle between cassia, Ky and Xander is. A place most dear to me is home. where I feel like cassia sometimes. With such an erge to break free, yet such a longing to stay and feel safe. I am looking forward to the next book.

I really loved Matched and you are such an amazing author! My favorite place would have to be the woods. It’s very peaceful there, just to hear the birds and wander around until you’re lost and it takes an adventure to get home.

I saw Matched at the book store and was awed at the beautiful cover! I read it and was even more amazed at the contents! This is a great book written like poetry! I am counting down the minutes until it comes out!
A place that is dear to me is our temple for our church. It is a beautiful place that always makes me feel right at home. It helps me forget about my problems and feel peace and love.

I love going to the beach. Before my grandpa passed away, he owned this little house right on this beautiful beach, where barely any people would ever go.
So whenever I go to a beach, it reminds me of him.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

A place of serenity, soft colors, and the sweet stains of fairy tales- my Grandmother’s garden. This dream land is the place I want to go before I even die; the sixty-foot garden is covered in flowers of sharp patterned petals and light, baby kissed buds. There no matter what age I am today, tomorrow, yesterday- I can set a flower filled crown a top my head, lay down on the glowing green grass, and listen to the wind rustle into the plant’s arms and legs.

    July 23, 2011

Well, probably you dont know the place that im about to tell you, but is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Im from Uruguay, and the place that is more dear to me is a village called Cabo Polonio, you can only get there by 4×4 vehicles since normal ones destroy the sand dunes. Cabo Polonio has no electricity nor running water. At night i cant help spend hours outside watching the stars that shine like a million beacons and seem to have a hole world inside, or when the oportunity comes the full moon kissing the never ending sand dunes until the point that they seem a part of the silver ocean, like if they joined for me, yeah thats my dearest place

I loved Matched, and I can’t wait for Crossed to come out! I just love love stories! Anyway my favorite place is my grandma’s condo in Florida, where we go for spring break. I also love Namibia, Africa! Beautiful sunsets, amazing scenery, and exotic wildlife. Trust me it’s the best place to go for a family vacation.

My favorite place to be is in the aspen grove in my back yard. I live in Colorado and there are some beautiful places here but there’s nothing like laying on a blanket in the middle of fall looking up into the aspen trees with a beacon of sunlight streaming through the leaves.

Man i’m too late. Matched is beautiful, 4 of my friends have asked ot borrow it and they love it. This is really late, but im just gonna say that my favorite place is a little dam in the nearby creek that holds enough water for swimming and relaxing

    August 16, 2011

When I read Matched I fell in love with the book. I hope I’m not to late for the contest but i really want to know what happens. A place that is dear to me is the playground near my house. In the evening i like to swing on the swings to feel the cool brezze, and bicycle around the park.

The dearest place that I can think of, is anywhere my husband is. He’s my best friend and truly my soul mate. Two years married tomorrow! One of my favorite physical places is where we were married, in Manti, UT. Like a castle on a hill, where I was wed to my prince.

    August 24, 2011

No offense to ally condie or anyone. I did enjoy the book matched I had to read it for a assignment in class but personally I feel as if the society does need to be Broken down but at the same time I feel as if cassia should stay with Xander by the way she talks about him why the hell not and ky well I think she should save ky but at the same time let him down easy and tell him shes gonna stay with Xander but it seems to me as if Xander has been through enough and deserves to be happy just as much as cassia and if she knows she’ll be happy with either one y not save Xander the heart ache and stay with him they are all 17 and I’m pretty sure ky will move on in life and find some one but obviously it’s not cassia when she found out it was all a trick she should just went to Xander then and there and explained the whole thing to him and maybe when they got older or even then they could have both went to find ky but all the extra drama on cassia’s part wasn’t needed her being matched with Xander was probably the bast thing that has happend to her. O and a place dear to me is my hometown bellflower California even though I live in Texas now.

  • Trinity Hobsoni
    August 24, 2011

Almost forgot the reason I love bellflower is because it’s unique it’s not like Hollywood or las angelas it’s different kinda like me I feel as if I can relate to the city it’s self like if it where to be a person. The one thing I really enjoy about reading is that u can exit from the world when u do it ur like in ur own dimension but it’s really what someone wrote. It’s a joy once u finally get into the book and u feel as if ur there and what decisions u would make if u where the main character or somebody else in the book u feel more like yourself I would say more alive. And a snug place to read is just anywhere quiet anywhere u can get away from hearing ur name being called evry 5seconds just sit and read and concintrate, think and imagine. I apologize for my typing I txt to much

I know this will not be entered in the contest because it’s over- but I wanted to share my favorite place. When I was a little girl, I had a morning rtiual of getting up and going out onto my grandparents porch. She would always be there in her robe sitting in her porch swing. I would join her and we’d just swing in silence as the day unfolded. It was magical. I told my husband this story a couple of years ago and for my seventh wedding anniversary he went to the old abanded house and got the swing for me he re-did it for me and now it hangs on my porch. I sit their with my own children now.

My favorate place is simply my bedroom that I’ve decorated from scratch myself. I painted flowers on the walls, put photos of family and freind around and filled it with cushions and fairylights and piled my books all around. It’s not like the place has any amazing memories or remind me of anyone, but it’s just mine and has everything in it, like my books, my bed, my drawings and my photos.

    December 27, 2011

I am disqualifying myself by posting a second time but there’s a place in Arizona on top of a mountain looking over a valley that I found when I am there I am at peace with everything my life has thrown at me. I feel quite small an insignificant. I enjoy that feeling now. For the longest time I felt bigger than I truly was and this place reminds me that small an insignificant is a beautiful gift in and of itself.
As for disqualification… thank you for letting me stroll through a memory or two… that is all I wanted to begin with.

I first won the book from a contest to see whole could read the most amount of words for the whole year and it definitely was the prize! :) MY favorite place to be in the whole world is on a beach in Hawaii wher the grainy sand clings to your feet and the waves tickle your toes and the sun beams on your face for a fresh tan and tiny freckles. thanks!:)

The contest is over, so I’ll just say I LOVED Matched. I tell everyone just read one chapter and you’ll be hooked. It’s such a fun good read. Just finished crossed and wanted to make sure there was another book and found this blog. I love Xander. But feel like Ky needs Cassia, so they’ll probably end up together. Uh! I need book 3 now! So my favorite place to be…anywhere with my family! They make a place special for me. With them, the beach!

My favorite place are the mountains of West Virginia. I know my home state catches a lot of slack due numerous movies..lol… But it is truly beautiful. Even the smell of fresh soil has this calming effect on me. Things just seems wilder, untouched by society. Like I can close my eyes and feel like I was the 1st person to stand on this piece of earth. Its a very special place for me.
